HOUSE WITHOUT CORRIDORS
AM TREMBLAY RESIDENCE
Val David, Québec
2007
140 sq m

A small weekend house for a local sculptor. A single continuous space revolves around an exterior courtyard allowing light and landscape to penetrate deep into the heart of the house. The house’s orientation and openings are organized to balance energy efficient, light, and spatial transparency. Strategic floor to ceiling openings, overhangs, and the geometry of the landscaped roof maximize light and view while controlling heat gain. From the exterior the house simultaneously maintains an iconic presence, contextual sensitivity, and a certain sense of humility.
